Women+ Mountaineering Leadership Course 2

All women, trans, and femme identifying individuals are welcome in this space.

This course is a continuation of the Women+ Mountaineering Leadership Course series. We will be building on the skills learned in the first course, as well as taking those skills into more complex terrain. If you are interested in furthering your mountain education in low grade alpine rock terrain, you’ve come to the right place!

  • The goal of this course is to build upon the mountaineering skills covered in Women+ Mountaineering Leadership Course 1. We deepen prior skills, such as glacier travel and navigation, and introduce new skills on low grade rock.

On the first day of our course, we will meet at Mount Erie to cover low grade rock travel. This will include anchor building, placing protection, movement techniques, ascending and descending techniques, and using the terrain around you.

On days 2 through 5, we will move to one of a few peak options to apply these skills in mountainous terrain.

  • We will be choosing from a selection of peaks for days 2-5 of this course.

Option 1: Mount Shuksan - Sulphide Glacier

Option 2: Mount Shuksan - Fisher Chimneys

Option 3: Boston Basin - Sahale Peak

    * Route selection will depend on conditions, permitting, and weather

  • We warmly welcome women, trans, and femme participants.

This course is designed to be taken after taking the Women+ Mountaineering Leadership Course 1. We do make exceptions if you have appropriate experience or have taken a similar course in the past. Please email us if you wish to take this course, but have not taken part 1 of the series.
