The Ultimate Challenge

Acclimating to climb two high altitude volcanoes in just nine days might sound ambitious, but we assure you, it's not only possible but also incredibly rewarding. Our expert team at Upward Transitions is committed to providing you with a safe and unforgettable experience. We have meticulously designed this journey to challenge your personal limits, while ensuring your safety remains our utmost priority.

Volcanic Wonderlands

Your adventure begins in Mexico City. We will meet together and discuss our goals and intentions for our time together. One of the most wonderful aspects of an International trip is having the opportunity to engage and participate in a new and different culture. We will spend the day visiting markets, eating local foods, and exploring the bustling streets of Mexico City. Standing above 7,000ft, this is a great way to passively let our bodies adjust to higher altitudes

The following day, we will embark on our journey to La Malinche, a stunning stratovolcano that stands at 14,635 feet. This awe-inspiring peak is a wonderful way to begin to acclimatize to the mountains of Mexico. We will camp at the base, and climb on day three.

On day four, we will begin our journey to Pico de Orizaba, Mexico's tallest peak at an impressive elevation of 18,491 feet. We will spend a night at a beautiful lodge in a town nearby the mountain, take an off road vehicle to the base of the mountain, and sleep under the stars at 13,700ft. By this time, our bodies will have been doing the work to prepare us for this high altitude camp. From base camp, we will take a day to go on another acclimatization hike to make sure or bodies are feeling well closer to 16,000 feet.

Brace yourself for a true mountaineering experience as you embark on our summit push and navigate the glacier-covered terrain and finally reach the apex of this dormant giant. The sense of accomplishment and the awe-inspiring vistas from the top are bound to leave an indelible mark on your soul.

After descending we will enjoy a celebratory special celebratory meal together, in celebration of working so hard, and having the mental fortitude to persevere. If any individual felt they needed to turn around at any point, we congratulate them for listening to their own compass, and the wisdom of their body. All efforts in the mountains are good efforts, and success is based on making back home without damage, not making it to the summit.

Unforgettable Experiences, Expert Guidance

Our experienced and highly knowledgeable guides will be with you every step of the way, ensuring your safety, offering expert guidance, and sharing fascinating stories about the history, culture, and geology of these natural wonders. You'll also have the opportunity to learn mountaineering techniques, perfect your skills, and gain invaluable experience for future adventures. We are focused on learning what we can from this land that has such a rich native history. We seek to immerse ourselves in the culture, and respect that we are visitors. Mountaineering can sometimes be a very difficult activity, but at the end of the day, you are here to have an enjoyable experience, and we want to support that as best we can. Modifications are easily made based on health issues, comfort level, ect.
